Score A Student Olympics

Score A Student Olympics is an annual program by Faber-Castell Malaysia with the objective to help students to study better with the creative learning techniques while make learning fun-filled, explorative, and insightful using colours and creative notes (mind maps, river flow notes, memory palace etc) to optimize their academic potential.

In the competition, students will be challenged with four different missions and will be judged by a panel of education experts. At the end of each mission, only shortlisted students will advance to the next mission.

The selection criteria is based on online assessment score, creative application of learning techniques and critical thinking presention. Only one best student will reign as champion, winning the Top Student title in each respective category – primary, lower secondary and upper secondary.


Challenge Mechanics

The Challenge is divided into three categories, which are applicable to the Participants as follows:

Category A:

10 to 12 years old
(Upper Primary)

Category B:

13 to 15 years old
(Lower Secondary)

Category C:

16 to 17 years old
(Upper Secondary)

Register

(Registration deadline: 31 July 2024)

Participants must complete their registration to the Challenge by filling in a Google Form with their personal particulars. By completing the form, Participants are deemed to have acknowledged that all information provided is true. The Organiser reserves the right to disqualify Participants in the event of the discovery of false information.

The Challenge consists of 4 Missions ; where Mission 1, 2 and 3 will be conducted online before going into the physical Finale (Mission 4) and Prize Giving Ceremony.

The Challenge format includes but is not limited to note creation, objective questions/quiz, video presentation and live presentation.

Mission 1

All participants are required to create their creative notes based on articles provided by the Organiser, answer objective questions and/or presentations. A total of 600 participants from the 3 categories will be shortlisted and advanced into the next stage, which is Mission 2.

Mission 2

All participants are required to create their creative notes based on articles provided by the Organiser, answer objective questions, critical thinking and/or presentations. 50 participants from each category will be shortlisted and advanced into the next stage, which is Mission 3.

Mission 3

A total of 30 participants from the 3 categories (10 participants per category) will be shortlisted and advanced into the Final Challenge after Mission 3 based on their notes, objective questions, critical thinking and/or presentations.

Mission 4

30 participants shortlisted from Mission 3 will have to attend to the final challenge which will be conducted physically in location and date that will be announced later. All participants will have to create their notes, answer objective questions and present their notes on this day.

Shortlisted participants for each Mission will be notified via EDM, Telegram groups and/or teachers-in-charge. The Organiser will not be responsible shall the shortlisted participants miss out any notifications from the channel above.

The organiser reserves the right to modify, amend and extend the Challenge format without prior notice to ensure the smoothness of the Challenge.

Submit

Submission Entries
  1. Participants may submit multiple notes, videos and quiz attempts for the challenge, but only ONE (1) attempt shall be accepted to qualify as the winner throughout the challenge.
  2. All entries must be an original creation, created and attempted by the participants only. Participants shall not breach any intellectual property rights belonging to any other party. The Participants shall not pose, distribute, reproduce or submit in any way whatsoever, any materials containing any other party’s intellectual property rights, including but not limited to copyrights, or other proprietary information owned by another party without obtaining the prior written consent of the owner of such intellectual property rights or proprietary informationIn the event of doubt, query or uncertainty in the originality of the Challenge submission, the Judges’ decision shall be final and no correspondences, appeals or discussions shall be entertained.
  3. All notes creation entries must be completed by hand. Any submitted entries with digital images will not be accepted and will be disqualified from the competition.
  4. The closing date for each Mission will be announced at a later date during each briefing session. All participants shall comply to the dateline given.
  5. Submissions received beyond the closing date will not be approved, or will be disqualified from the Challenge.
  6. By participating in this Challenge, the participants shall be deemed to have granted the Organiser the permission to use their names, school names, to upload any approved, and or shortlisted submissions onto the Faber-Castell Malaysia Facebook page and the official microsite. The Organiser shall have the exclusive right to use, edit, modify and publish the entry submitted by all the Participants, publish the names of the Participants, in any way it deems fit for any advertising, trade, promotional purpose and for any other reason whatsoever, without any further notice to the Participants and the Participants shall not claim ownership or any payment or compensation on the materials. For the avoidance of doubt, the submissions will not be edited for judging purposes.
  7. The Organiser reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify Participants that are found, or suspected of tampering with the Challenge submission process of the Challenge. The Organiser reserves the right to remove any submissions of the person who it reasonably suspects has violated or infringed any of these general terms and conditions.
Judging criteria
  1. All entries shortlisted will be judges on the following criteria:
    • Objective Questions/Quiz – The accuracy and/or speed of answering the questions
    • Notes creation – How well the participants decipher and categorize information from the articles given and create creative learning notes based on techniques taught and prompted during the Challenge workshop
    • Video presentation – How eloquent, confident and clear participants in communicating ideas and information based on the mission topic given.
  2. The shortlisting and judging process of all entries will be conducted by the selected panel of judges, consists of industry expert(s), Faber-Castell representative(s) and Challenge partner(s).
  3. The Organiser reserves the right to add, amend, modify the judging criteria based on the context of each Mission.
  4. The Judges’ decision shall be final and no correspondences, appeals or discussions shall be entertained.

  • All winners will receive their prizes during the Prize Giving Ceremony. The exact date will be communicated to shorlisted participants later.
  • The Organiser will not be held liable in the event that prize fulfilments are not completed due to incorrect contact and bank details provided by the Participants.
  • The Organiser shall reserve the right, at its absolute discretion, to substitute any of the prizes with that of similar value, at any time without prior notice. Non-monetary prizes are given on an “as is” basis and are not exchangeable for cash, credit, other items or vouchers, in part or in full.
  • The Organiser may give out small prizes as token of appreciation for the effort put in by specific participants in this Challenge. The selected participants will be announced by the Organiser in selected Telegram groups to obtain their delivery address. Selected participants are to respond to the Organiser within seven [7] days from the initial date of announcement to fill in the correct particulars. The Organiser shall not be held liable in the event the participant(s) is not responsive or does not fill in the form provided after at least three [3] attempts by the Organiser or its agents. All unclaimed prizes will be forfeited. The Organiser will not be held liable in the event of non-receipt or delayed delivery of the postal notification to the participant[s].


Programme Recognition and PAJSK Marks

Following the Ministry of Education’s guideline and subject to MOE’s consideration and approval AFTER the Challenge has ended, the Organiser shall release the official letter and announcement for the programme recognition and PAJSK marks.

The PAJSK marks are only awarded to eligible participants aged 10 to 17 from government schools.

The Organiser of Creative Learning Score A Olympics neither has any access to the such Points system nor can they impose any influence on the schools/teachers to submit the PAJSK marks for the students/participants. Reference or enquiry to such mentioned points shall be directed to the participant’s school only after the entire programme ends, upon the official announcement by the Organiser via the teacher’s Telegram groups.

The announcement period for programme recognition might take up to 3 months subject to MOE’s approval.


Eligibility for E-Certificate

Participants are required to submit their entry and complete all of the challenge for Mission 1 in order to be eligible for an E-Certificate.

Details such as name, school name, and any other information submitted on the Google form will be inserted on the E-Certificate. If any of the details on E-Certificate is inaccurate due to the submission of wrong information, Faber-Castell will neither be held liable nor responsible to revise the E-Certificate.

Regardless of the amount of times an entry has been submitted, each participant will only be eligible to receive 1 (one) E-Certificate.
